  • Naked little blocks of lemon and rose water jelly delights with a hint of icing sugar to cover their modesty. These tasty treats originate from Istanbul and were created by a man called Bekir Effendi in 1777. They were first brought to Western Europe in 19th Century by a guy who traveled to Istanbul and became fond of this delicacy and so shipped back cases of it to be enjoyed in the UK and so the name Turkish Delight was born.
